Question from P.

This is a message from P. who wants to know if she should send this letter to her ex boyfriend.

I want to send this message to him to be like I don't think it should be awkward anymore or whatever. What do you think??

"So I know we said we would give each other space and all that, and if you're not ready to talk & be friends I understand that. But I just want to say I know you know I'm still friends with your friends, and that I have been and will occasionally be in the future over at the house hanging out. I just want to make sure that's okay with you. I know the last couple times we've sort of ran into each other it's been unexpected & kind of awkward I guess, and what I'm trying to say is that we agreed to be friends, so I feel like we should move past this whole awkward not talking stage, and at the very least say hi to each other when we run into one another. I don't expect anything, not a long conversation or anything like that but we should at least be able to say hi. I feel like if we can't at least do that, the next couple years are gonna be super awkward because we have friends in common and we're probably not going to stop running into each other...so what do you think? I hope you're doing okay."

P,
I think this is a perfectly acceptable message to send to your ex. Since you just got out of the relationship recently, I would think it's a good idea to communicate with your ex as a way of closure. There's nothing to lose if you send the message, the worst he do is tell you no. He'll either respond or not to the message and that will give you an idea where to go from there. So yes, send the message if you feel like you should.
